SPEYSIDE HIGH SCHOOL PARENT COUNCIL

Speyside High School’s Parent Council has been in existence since August 2007, replacing the previous School Board, under the terms of the Parental Involvement Act.
The Key purpose of the Parent Council is to ensure that parents and carers are involved in and consulted about the life of the school as much as possible. We aim to involve and support parents and carers as best we can, to help the whole school community.

The Parent Council meets at least once each term. The Parent Council members and office bearers are elected at the Speyside Parent Forum Meeting and Parent Council AGM each September.

Members include:

At least 6 parents or carers, chosen from the Parent Forum
Two senior students, two members of staff, at least one of them a teacher, and one other member of the community
The Head Teacher, in an advisory capacity.
The Moray Councillors for Speyside will be invited to attend each meeting.
The input of EVERYONE involved is very much valued.

MEETINGS

The geographical area SHS covers obviously makes attending in-person meetings hard for some. During the 2020/21 school year through to the Spring of 2022 we have been holding online parent council meetings via Microsoft Teams. However, now that it is again possible to meet in person, it is our intention to hold our next meeting, the AGM in person, at Speyside High School.

If you are interested in attending, but this makes your attendance difficult, please do get in touch with us via our email to let us know. We will consider all options between now and the end of August.

Whether you are interested in supporting the kids and the school through helping with fundraising ideas, are wanting more input into and understanding of how the school can best meet the needs of the whole school body, have some ideas of how the parent council can best spend the money it raises, or just want to meet some fellow parents and carers, please do consider coming along. We are a friendly, inclusive group.

You can contact the Parent Council through our email at: shs_parent_council@outlook.com
